Open Fire Permit Form

OPEN FIRE PERMITS

Open Fire Permits are available at our office, during business hours or ONLINE (print, fill it out & bring it to the office). *UPDATE* as of 2026 - you WILL NEED a Open Fire Permit for fires within an OPEN burn barrel. If it has a mesh covering, you do not need one.

Just a reminder that, you do not need a fire permit for the following:

  •   Enclosed fire pits, fire bowls, chimineas, and other outdoor receptacles that include a:

    • Spark arrestor

    • Grille or mesh covering

  •   Solid fuel burning appliances such as:

    • Charcoal barbecues

    • Smokers

Important:

  1. All outdoor fires must be under constant supervision at all times.
  2. For each new burn, a new burn permit must be acquired from the office.
  3. With the exception of bonfires and barbeques, burning shall be restricted to daytime hours.

For the use of fireworks, please contact the R.M of Cornwallis Office for more information.

It is YOUR responsibility to be aware of burning bans within the municipality via contacting our office, watching the municipal website or following our various social media pages.

**ALL FIRE PERMITS CAN BE REVOKED/SUSPENDED AT ANY TIME**
