Basic Upgrading Literacy Programs
Please note: The following three adult literacy programs receive provincial funding grants. Consequently, there are no student tuition fees associated with these programs.

Brandon Friendship Centre Adult Education Program

The Brandon Friendship Centre adult education program provides upgrading in reading, writing, math and computers. This adult program assists adults in their preparation for other forms of education and training - like the Adult Learning Centre. The program operates Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. between the months of September - June. Drop-in service is available in July. The program also delivers instruction two evenings per week. Call for more information.

The Brandon Literacy Council (BLC) provides literacy and life skills services to students with diverse needs. Community-based literacy classes offer individualized and group instruction to adults who wish to improve their reading, writing and numeracy skills, to learn job search skills, prepare to write the GED, and/or develop better study skills. The program uses computers as a learning tool. The program runs Monday through Friday during the day and also offers two evening classes as well. Interested adults are encouraged to call the program to discuss their learning needs.

Samaritan House Training Centre offers upgrading in reading, writing, and numeracy/math, GED preparation, computer skills, and employment development programming. Students needing upgrading for entry into the Brandon Adult Learning Centre can be assisted in this program. Individuals can be assisted with either individual or group instruction, depending on the need. Classes are offered during the day. Please call for additional program information.
